Been here 4 months now, only banged 2 chicks, neither were Brazilian.

This place is a pain in the ass buddy. Here's why:

1) Island is too spaced out and you need a car to get around.
2) Floripa only has 400K people.
3) Metro only has 700K people.
4) Things happen very slowly as in people that stay single are that way for awhile. People that are in relationships are in the same ones FOREVER.
5) In a small city, lot of people know each other so it's really a negative stigma for local chicks to sleep with gringos because word gets out.
6) Best bet would be the peak season gals that flock into Floripa.
7) Off peak this place is dead where you can literally hear the sound of *crickets.* I say get out. Move to Belo Horizonte (5 Mil Metro) or Porto Alegre (4 Mil Metro)!

All the things you've said are entirely true. Girls that are from here haven't given me the time of day. No one here falls for the 'hi, do you speak english?' because they are so overwhelmed by foreigners in the summer.

Its beautiful here man! I have no desire to leave. Sure its hard to bang Brazilians, but I live in the center of the tourist area, and it's about to be the middle of tourism season.

I'm moving into a stand alone 2 bedroom house soon, and work here is effortless with an American demeanor, I'm running circles around competition.

Stakes, just wait for the summer, the place will be full of easy Argentinas.

Bumping an old thread. Going to Rio next month for a little under 1.5 weeks. My Brazilian friend down there says we should go to Florianopolis for 2 weeks. I had to tell him I wasn't even going to be in Brazil that long but I digress. I figured we could head down during the week for maybe 4 nights but then I started reading about this place, and I've never seen so many conflicting opinions in my life. Some say its great, others say avoid.

Now I've been sleeping with his sister on my visits and I really don't know where things stand, as in if she would come along or not; so I have to assume I am not going down there to game, only to have a good time, but that is undetermined so far. He is in his mid 30s and a laid back, cool dude, but he's is going through a divorce after a long marriage so I'm sure we have differing opinions about what constitutes a good time. I hate tourist destinations with a passion and I just don't see how going to a tourist destination for residents in the foreign country can be much better. So a few questions, if anyone can answer this or help me out I'd be obliged.

1. If I did go it would probably be Monday-Thursday or Friday. Is anything happening during the week or is it pretty dead during this time? And if its not completely dead is it lively enough to fly down there for?

2. Is mid-april still a decent time or not really?

3. Finally, are the bars that good and are the women that hot? Or is this just some high end tourist trap where people equate blowing money at overpriced venues as having a good time? And are the beaches that spectacular? Personally I am in heaven laying on Copacabana beach and having a guy bring me a beer every 20 minutes, does this place offer anything more than eye candy and a couple pool parties?

Hey Ridiculous Nicholas.

Only go to Floripa when fun events are occurring that will bring tourists from other parts of Brazil. With that being said....

Agenda for certain places:

April 4th, 2015 Event in P12 on the main high end tourist beach of Floripa -
http://www.parador12.com.br/agenda/04-04...repow.html

March-May 2015 Events for Pacha Floripa on that same very beach -
http://pachafloripa.com.br/agenda/

If you read the data carefully, the island is very spaced out & the population just isn't good enough to play the numbers game. Public transportation sucks..and even with a car, you're dealing with the sprawl effect. 700K in the Metro Area and 400K in the city + spaced out logistics = you're dealing with big fish in small pond mentality.

Might be worth a visit for the special events though.

Going off the post above mine..

Floripa is certainly worth coming for special events, but even better for this purpose is Balneario Camboriu. This city about 1 hour north of the island has the #1 and #3 club in the world (Warung and Green Valley).

P12 is a great place to party. Pacha is for teens. Period.

GO TO FIELDS. Brazilian country music club is horrible but you will be able to power through the music because of the quality of young women here.

Not HUGE functions going on during the week but the clubs downtown start getting active Wednesday/Thursday.

Do you surf? Like the beach? Ass in bikinis?

The way to make the most of your week in town? SPEND IT ON THE BEACH. There are 42 of them. If you have a decent body and can talk to girls when you're not wasted- the beach is a goldmine. I cannot stress enough the talent of women on beaches. The beaches have bars every 50m, rent any and everything you might need for the day.

Island is spaced out. But the sheer talent and ratio of women to men is overpowering.

I've been here for 8 months now, and while at times I really resented being here, I'm finally beginning to see why people call it the Island of Magic. If any of you are in town get in touch with me.

^^I should've contacted you before coming!

Just spent yesterday afternoon till tomorrow in Floripa.

Here's an Off Peak Report on Jurerê Internacional for June 2015.

Big clubs like P12 and Cafe de La Musique in the off peak hold concerts from 4PM till 10PM on Saturdays. Why till only 10 PM? Zoning and Noise Ordinance laws indicate outdoor bars in Jurerê cannot be open past that time except for super special events.

If you look at the P12 website, they have "agenda" or "programação" indicating what happens each Saturday. Kinda stupid..but if you buy tickets to P12 events, you need to have a CPF number (Brazilian Social Security # which I have nowadays) and then bring your passport/CC# used for payment to the event to finalize ticket purchase.

The Café de La Musique website pretty much shows nothing on their "agenda" list off peak. Don't be fooled, they might have better events each Saturday with outdoor house music concerts. Running past this place Saturday afternoon, the spacing here is smaller & more intimate than P12. Café de la Musique in Floripa appears to have better gaming logistics...not too big & overwhelming like P12.

On another note, Café de La Musique is the only place in Jurerê open Sunday nights. I unfortunately had stomach issues & could not go.

So what is there to do after 10PM in Jurerê on a Saturday night? The answer would be Donna which is just west of Café de La Musique and east of P12. Lotta chicks there but more of the cougar-ish gold digger variety. Keep in mind younger gals in Floripa are more reluctant to fuck gringos on the spot bc of reputation issues in a small population scattered island. These cougars however are relentless in their pursuit for money dudes and could care less about their reps, haha.

Good thing about Donna is that there is no minimum consumption or cover charge required. So it's a good cheap bet after Café de la Musique.

So what is there to do after 2AM when Donna closes Sat night? That answer would be Milk just southwest of P12. It's huge & requires a 100 Reais cover charge but not minimum consumption rule thankfully. They even have a good sushi bar inside. Good gaming spaces are likely best in front couch, smoking, or sushi areas.

IMO, Milk is a bit too crazy & maybe not that good for gaming in main areas. Music is quite loud...but DJs were very great. I have never seen so many tall chicks in my life haha.

Taxis and How Gals Get Home

This sounds crazy...but there are not really that many taxis in Jurerê off peak season. Most gals and people drive to the bars in groups and then go home collectively. You can impress girls by staying in Jurerê..but it doesn't necessarily mean they will drop their panties and go home with ya on the spot.

Where to Stay
There are two parts of Jurerê. A) Jurerê (Tradicional) and B)Jurerê Internacional. All the clubs are in Internacional...but Tradicional, which isn't a long walk away offers cheaper lodging and access to cheaper food/more restaurants too. There's even a big ass supermarket good for gaming nearby too. Jurerê Tradicional would be the best bet for my needs and budget.

Another Aspect of Floripa
Whereas the people in Balneariu Camboriu move there for entrepreneurial projects, service industry work, making money off of tourism, and etc...most transplants in Floripa however are there for government jobs, the Federal University of Santa Catarina, or more of your typical 9-5 professional type careers.

Local Floripa chicks living with family there might be more cautious and have had their fair share of exposure to gringos....but there's a lot of countryside girls from the interior of Santa Catarina now living in Floripa whom will be much more intrigued by gringos.

Oh btw...I would say Portuguese is basically a must here. Any other questions let me know!

I lived in Floripa for 2 years playing poker. I did relatively well because I spoke the language, and networked with women I wasn't fucking. My thoughts...

A: learn Portuguese: only speaking english limits you to women who are familiar with gringos. These aren't the women you want.

B: Befriend Brasilian guys: It's a lot easier to meet women with a local wingman.

C: Use online resources: badoo, tinder, okcupid

I'll be in floripa for the better part of June. If anyone wants to grab a drink shoot me a pm on here. It's been awhile since I've been to Santa Catarina so my social circle isn't what it once was but getting women shouldn't be an issue for normal, gringo dudes.

Thanks guys so much for all this good info!!!

I'm thinking about living down in Floripa from Dec 1 - Mar 1 (or maybe Apr 1). Coming down with my dog as well. However, reading all this talk about how tough the girls there are bringing me down a bit [Image: dodgy.gif]

This year I was fucking slaying it in Mexico literally banging a different girl every night (granted in 5-7 range, but still good for me). Since arriving to Europe this summer I only banged 2 girls all summer, both pretty low quality (desperation I guess haha).

The thought of spending all winter (or Austral summer) in a place in Brazil where the girls are "Western Europe" level of difficulty seems to be kind of a drag.

However, I love to surf (beginner, longboard). I like the idea of being by the beach. I speak fluent Spanish and strong conversational Portuguese. I do not have an exotic look at all by Brazilian standards (American of Argentine heritage, 5 foot 5, pretty ripped and in good shape, good face, but not exotic at all by SA standards).

I also run an online business and I heard the expat and IT culture there is good for some networking and the internet speeds are solid (was always a problem in Rio).

I've previously lived in Rio and done OK there (though my game was much lower back then). I also lived in Itacaré (small beachtown in Bahia), where the local darker skinned girls were literally throwing themselves at me, and a lot of them were pretty decent looking.

I just spent 2 months in Barcelona that has some of the most beautiful and also stuckup women in Europe. Daytime and nightime approaches were all a disaster. I ended up going on one date with a Spanish girl and when I tried to hold her hand or kiss her she literally freaked out and almost ran into oncoming traffic, like no dude had ever tried this before.

Basically what I'm getting at is I really don't want to spend 3 months somewhere with girls that are both beautiful and impossible. Is it really THAT tough there (like Italy, Buenos Aires, or Spain) level of tough? Or just tough compared to other parts of Brazil where an ugly gringo with no game can bag a 6 with no problem just for being foreign? I can handle the latter but not the former.

does anyone have any recommendations where to live? I'm thinking the beach. I looked in airbnb (crazy expensive) and easyquarto.com.br (very few options). Anywhere else to look for medium-term stay apartments?

Does anyone have any thoughts on Curitiba or Belo Horizonte? I would love to check them out just to go on a 3 month slay mission, and save surfing only for special weekend trips. The only problem is i'm living with a friend of mine and his girlfriend who speaks no Portuguese and i'm afraid they would be bored out of their minds in Belo Horizonte.

If you read the forum carefully, Ox has mentioned he's a married man. He's just giving advice on a NYE destination where hot girls go for a possible 2-3 day period (in a relevant thread might I add).

What's with this hateful passive aggression?

Sorry I didn't read this part before.

Belo Horizonte is more approachable than Floripa. The south of Brazil, specially Floripa, is very hyped not just because of the girls, but lots of celebrities go there to smash such as some football players so bitch shields are at full power, specially during summer. During the new years (in Floripa) it is also FULL of paulistas. I remember one day I was in Joaquina's Beach and there was just people from São Paulo.

I find mineiras friendlier than manezinhas. As a matter of fact, BH is easier to go to places, to game and to make local friends. They spend a lot of time in street bars, chatting a lot and everyone is approachable.

Curitiba, although I like it, is known for not being a so easy city to bang. Lots of people in Brazil argue that the Curitibanos are not very welcoming people, they don't talk to strangers etc. Also, Curitiba has a strong Ukrainian influence, lots of families migrated to Paraná after the end of the Soviet Union, some people say that's the reason a lot of Curitibanos are cold people.

tl;dr I'd say that the order of cost-benefit for gaming among the southern cities and BH are:
Belo Horizonte
Porto Alegre
Curitiba
Floripa

chochemonger1, I will try to be more specific with my opinion so you don't need to get butthurt.
According to my experience of being in ~20 countries, this part of the year in the place I mentioned is where I found the hottest, nicest bodies, tanned girls, like models (or panicats, you know what I mean) among the places I've ever been. This is a personal opinion, so you don't have to take it so hard.

Out of curiosity, how expensive is Praia da Rosa during NYE? I imagine the prices for Jurerê Internacional are going to be crazy for Café de la Musique, Taikô, etc. That is what everyone else is telling me.

I'm not sure if I want to spend 1000-2000 reais just for New Year's Eve so something like Praia da Rosa might be good. Are there mainly couples or are their single chicks there? This might be helpful so I can maybe gather a group of people to head there.

I think the best way to hook up & meet people in Curitiba is through nightlife. People are colder & more reserved during the day but open up after some drinks in the baladas (bars). At least the attitudes I face here are still more outgoing than the vibes I have gotten in the young professional scene of São Paulo like in Itaim Bibi, Vila Olimpia, etc.

I will say this about the student population of Curitiba though...people that move here from the interior of Paraná or exchange students staying near the universities around Centro get a bit depressed due to having difficulty making friends. Centro of Curitiba is a tough place to daygame (or make friends) due to safety issues, solicitors, and people walking very fast due to those very same reasons.

Curitiba as a city is cheaper than Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, São Paulo, Rio, Floripa, etc. What can make it expensive is however being active in nightlife just to meet people however...

Sorry to correct you on this point, but the Ukrainian waves of immigration to Paraná happened way before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Most came prior to the first World War, and a few came during the Soviet period, trying to escape political persecution, but not after the early 1950s.

That said, Polish and German communities are much bigger than Ukrainian in Curitiba, and they also play a big part in the "cold" demeanour of the local population. And I would also add the miserable weather as a factor.

Also Curitiba is the coldest capital of Brazil, but for me it is one of the top cities regarding women. The quality is quite good.

Thank you for your breakdown I appreciate it.

At the end of the day I think i'm ok with hitting a destination thats harder for girls but has other things i'm looking for in a city such as good internet, safety, good weather, good beaches, good nightlife. I'm sure there are some suitable targets. I can't imagine every girl coming to Floripa is a gold digger or celebrity hunter. My main goals are improving my Portuguese, working on my online businesses, and surfing

The question is, if I got all the surfing out of my system and wanted to live in an interior city for a while, why BH over Medellin? I'm very interested in BH, i'll have to stop by for a few weeks maybe in April or May and checkout the scene.

Down here in Floripa untill January I've been here for 3 weeks and yes well this place is a ghost town there are a few hot spots in different parts of the island. The bus system sucks but you can get to where you need to be if you have plans. I'm studying abroad at the local University so I have an in with some Social Circles that otherwise I would not so I have the down low on a lot of college parties going on with loads of girls. But in my short experience I cannot stress how critical it is to have Portuguese basics. The only girl that I've met here that speak English are from Sao Paulo and Rio. Most locals don't even speak Spanish and will not understand you. You can try to speak Portunol which is Spanish potuguese and still it is very difficult. While you do get a lot of IOI''S approaches are very difficult if you did not understand them. I got a 6's phone number but it was very difficult to understand each other so far no flag's Portuguese Portuguese Portuguese. The Gringo Factor does not apply since most of these are descendant Gringos. And down here WhatsApp is King I will report back with more data once my language skills improve and it gets closer to the summer months

This is important for any place you go in the world when you don't speak the language, but I swear there is something about Floripa that makes it even more necessary. If your Portugues isn't up to par, don't handicap yourself, take advantage of online game. Check out some Facebook groups for English and Portugues exchange at the university that you are staying and send out some bulk messages to some of the fine girls in the group. It's worth a shot and it's win win because you will improve your Portugues.

- As far as nightlife goes, take advantage of the UFSC parties. They are the best parties on the Island to find girls in my opinion. Open Bar, and an abundance of hot university girls in a huge venue makes it the perfect place for night game. Just approach in english dude, you'd be surprised how many girls from the university speak english. If they don't understand, or give you the blase Floripa girl attitude just walk away and find a new one.

- Outside of UFSC parties, during this time of the year, the nightlife scene will be concentrated around Centro on the weekends for the most part. Lagoa might have some places, but when I was there I wasn't impressed with it; venues are way to small. In Centro you've got Fields, 1007, and other ones that have opened up since I've left. These places are pretty decent and will offer plenty of options for a Friday or Saturday night when there isn't an UFSC party. Wednesdays at Fields are actually popping sometimes, FYI. But be aware that Fields is an upscale venue and you will get some bitchy attitudes. Find a way to get yourself on the list so you pay half price.

- For day game, make some friends with some of the people in the program and hit the beaches on nice days. There will always be some options at the bus stations on the way to the beach or at the beach itself. As far as best beaches for day game goes, during this time of year your best bet is probably Joaquina, Campeche, Mole, and maybe Barra. Mole is a bit of a gay spot, but there are also a ton of hot straight girls that hangout there. It's kind of like the Jurere of the eastern beaches. Just go, and post up near some girls, you guys will inevitably start talking somehow, it's Brasil. Grab a caipirinha, relax, and enjoy it.

@thegoodlife yea everything you said is absolutely true. A hidden game spot is the bus from TITRI to TILAG 30 minutes worth of gaming with girls on the bus. I done indirect game by calling up a buddy and chatting for 5 or so minutes so I can speak English only when I'm next to cute girls I want to open. I get looks and even approaches from them that way. I run game and usually get a whatsapp that way or met up with them later in the week. This method has worked everytime. Yes the ufsc parties are the place to be especially since I have built a social circle with some of the guys here. One question with tinder are ONS's common or at least SNL's? I got a bite or two on there but I am not sure if they treat the app as a hookup app like back in the states. I'm think I might checkout Porto Alegre my landlord said it's way bigger with beautiful women and I would have good odds. Thanks for the advice. BTW I live in apt close to campus in the master and the other roomate is alost never there so I have place to bring the girls in a decent neighborhood.
