DC is crazy in that within the course of a couple miles you have places like Georgetown and Midtown where things are safe and fine and 2 miles over you have Anacostia, which I wouldnt ever go into unless I was driving and the doors were locked and windows up.

Why does DC have a female police chief? I wonder if she was actually the best, and most qualified, person for that job? Given that police departments are largely made up of men, I would guess that a woman being the most qualified is a very low probability.
