How to earn income from (non-AdSense) ads on a Game blog

Naturally, I got the idea of installing Google AdSense, but after they reviewed the website, they dismissed my application and closed my AdSense account due to "pornographic content on the website in violation of AdSense best practices and forbidden content". The worst thing my blog has is an occasional "f**k" (yes, censored like that except for a single post that was quoting someone else), and a few pictures of girls in bikinis.

Upon further reading of AdSense rules, I've discovered that they disallow it for any kind of website that deals with sex, dating or seduction advice. It doesn't matter that my style is a lot more tame than Roosh's or Roissy's, that definitely puts me out of the competition forever.

Do you know of any other ad or affiliate services to put on my blog that would be ok, given its Game, Sexual Market & Dating Advice theme? Have you used any and did you earn anything from them?

Affiliation with Amazon (or someone else) selling game books or whatever else your audience is interested in? Though if you're based in Croatia maybe you don't have Amazon there.

I am using Amazon Affiliate already, but since Amazon sells books in English and my audience is Croatian, it's tough. I got several hundred clicks on the books that I link occasionally (including Bang), but no sales at all. I don't expect any better results from that in the future either so I've pretty much given up on linking further books.

What about other ad platforms, do any even exist since Google is so dominant? I wouldn't want to descend to Viagra banners or something like that.

I imagine people like RSD have bootcamp/product affiliates. I don't know how much of that traffic will be Croatian. Same with places like Clickbank etc.

Failing those avenues, you could ask people privately. Hook up small one-man people like Roosh and see if any will work sometihng out for private linkage. Maybe even do Croatian versions of stuff?

Failing that, make a location blog/book like Roosh has Bang Iceland or whatever.

Offer to translate Roosh's books into Croatian (assuming you write well and are a native speaker) for a % of profits (some sort of negotiation) and then sell or link them on the site. You've instantly got a unique product and can form a monopoly on the local Croatian market.

Hahaha, speaking of translating Roosh to Croatian, some guy just published a dating advice book here titled "Get the girl". I haven't seen what's inside, but it costs "only" 200 HRK, that is 40$. And since wages in Croatia are much lower than in the USA, over there it would be like a book costing 80$. Outrageous in any case.

I have registered on Clickbank (thx Kitsune!) and am now looking for products that might be nice for promotion. I was kind of disappointed to see mostly books over there, was hoping more for something like last-minute airfare or travel deals (anyone knows where to find ad engines for those?) instead of travel guides. It is a plus that it has BANG listed too.

How many posts do you have? If you can curate a "guide" of some sort using your best posts and new material, an Ebook could be profitable. It's not advertising per se, but if the goal is monetization you can't do much better. Make sure it's not just a collection of back articles; edit them, polish them, add new content and make sure there is some commonality among sections. Choose your best 3 "newb" articles, day game articles, night life articles and whatever else you can. Break them into chapters so there is some cohesion to the thing.

If you do this, get some affiliate deals in place. The long tail revenue from an Ebook can be very pleasant.

I have almost 200 posts at the moment, so I am pondering the same thing, making a guide with a "story" all the way from internal game to late game and lots of personal experiences and examples. Such a thing, given my blog's popularity, might be very well received even in the backwater Croatian book market (my nation has a very poor reputation for reading, anything that sells more than 1000 copies is considered a bestseller).

Although, I am getting the feeling that I don't really know why someone would buy it when the Bang has already described the process so well. I haven't felt the need to buy anything else after reading it lol.

Consider making videos?

If reading isn't a big thing in your country then fair enough, but I bet there's not a lot of video guides for Game in Croatian. Plus I still think you can get a YouTube partnership, even though Adsense would usually knock you back for being a PUA.

Wow, you have plenty of material! Just curating that into a book should do enough. Your English seems to be fine, so consider releasing it in both languages. Croatia is not a large country, and 1000 copies of an Ebook won't get you all that far [Image: smile.gif]

Your book is not just another "how to bang", but more a personal journey story with actionable tips for people who want to learn. I feel that I am quite experienced and do not actively look for new content to read, but I am always interested in a good story! That much more so if I can still learn from it.

Let us know what you end up doing.

Yes, offer to translate English game products into Croatian and sell them. I like that idea.

Whilst there may be a market in translating it, what works in Croatia and what works in America (where Roosh was based when he wrote his original books as far as I know) may be completely different so the content might not be of much value to Croatian readers.

Fuck AdSense and Amazon Affiliate in this scenario. They will only be paying you cents per click/sale. I have made my living online for 2.5ish years so I know a thing or two about this. Your best bet is probably going to be to create your own info products to market to your readerbase, such as Roosh does. Do you have an email list yet? If not, that is the FIRST thing you should do. The money is in the list. Create a 10-20 page free ebook to give to people who subscribe to your blog. It can be something like "10 Simple Changes You Can Make To Get Laid Today." or some shit like that.

Check out SocialTriggers.com and the Thesis blog: http://diythemes.com/thesis/ for really good blogging and list building advice.

I would also recommend upgrading your website to a Thesis theme to make it look more modern, and also be able to add email capture forms in the right places. I would go with a theme like this: http://demo.kolakube.com/marketers-delight/

Real money is made by sales, not ads.

As for adsense, I got rejected for promoting sexual violence with the line "I fucked her harder than was safe or necessary."

I emailed them contesting the decision, they told me to re apply so I did, now I have adsense on my blog.

But dulst, you still do have "sexual advice" and whatever shit from forbidden categores on your blog. How did you manage that? I will try to reapply. To be clear, this is the forbidden stuff:

Quote:Google AdSense Content Guidelines Wrote:

Pornographic images
Pornographic cartoons or anime (hentai)
Lewd or provocative images
Adult/sexual dating sites
Mail Order Brides / Escort sites
Sheer/See-Through
Crude or indecent language, including adult stories
Sexual tips or advice
Adult comment spam
Adult search results
Ads or links to external sites containing adult content
Sexual aids, devices, and enhancers such as: vibrators, dildos, lubes, sex games, inflatable toys, penis and breast enlargements, and sex instructional videos
Note: Sites that are selling sexual drugs such as Viagra will fall under the drug content policy, NOT adult content

Otherwise, it seems that a book is the way to go. There are indeed differences, although the main reason I am so involved with game is that Croatian girls are very Americanized, so not such a big difference after all.

Why are adsense so against 'adult stories', 'dating', 'sexual tips or advice'. How pathetic.

Google really hates affiliate marketing and the dating niche is one of the biggest. I assume this is why. I would stay away from AdSense for the most part because they have been known to shut down entire accounts over one infraction. So say you are making $5,000 a month from AdSense from legitimate sites but they deem one of your sites to violate their TOS. They will shut down your account across all sites, leaving you with $0.

Personally, I think there are better models to monetize most sites than AdSense. If AdSense if your best bet to monetize a certain site, I would rethink starting that site.

Yeah from what I've read as soon as anyone starts making serious money from adsense Google are quick to ban them. Why is it that google hates affiliate marketing so much?

Can I have a look at your website Rio, curious as to what it is you do.

Either Croatian guidelines are different from UK ones or I'm a lucky SOB. Most of my advice revolves around getting girls into bed rather than the sex itself. And I have a disclaimer to cover my ass with the drug stories.

The sites I own are affiliate marketing sites in the MMA niche. However, I'm moving away from affiliate marketing completely. I also did some freelance SEO work and worked for just over a year at a web design/online marketing firm back in California.
