Legal System Spits on Navy SEAL

Unlike the chickenhawks and other war mongers, I was actually a commissioned officer in the Army. I resigned my commission after waking up to the misandrist nature of this country.

Why would I risk my life for a country that would enslave me, based on nothing more than the false accusation of a woman?

This news article reminded me that I made the right choice. Here, a Navy SEAL who risked his life - and permanently damaged his body - in service to his country found out how male heroes are treated:

Why would any man serve his country?

We should certainly put "his" in quotes, since this country does not belong to men - even when those men are decorated war heroes.

Sadly, it's become so commonplace for veterans to be shit on in this country, that I'm never surprised when I read such articles. What I do find surprising is that there's still an army of volunteers signing up for military service.

That's because the young-bloods that are signing up have lost all hope in making it in today's world. Most are trying to get out of poverty, get out of gangs, get some money to pay for college tuition, and have only the military to get them one step further to that pipe dream. I was watching a documentary a few weeks ago on street gang members joining the military so they can learn weapons and combat tactics to take back to the streets!

I was also, but Navy.

Keep in mind I'm Hawaiian, so I served the country that overthrew mine illegally. No hard feelings though, and they were nice enough to apologize: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apology_Resolution.

You hear more and more veterans that are unhappy, but that's a different topic.

There's a million experiences I wouldn't trade for anything. I learned everything there is to know about the ocean and today I consider myself a very solid waterman because of it.

Most importantly I believe that my performance during my years in legitimately saved lives, whether it was person-to-person on the ground, or far out on ships. I'm 35, so I got to see the wars people whine about first hand.

One of the best things about my time in was the people I met. I've got solid lifelong friends I'd do anything for. They'd do the same for me. These are dynamic, high-functioning dudes.

I just read the article about the SEAL. What a hell of a life that guy's had, and imagine the shit he's gonna get into still to come.

The first thing he does after getting his body jacked up is start a 3 million dollar a year business. That's incredible.

As many veterans as I meet that are grumblers, there are just as many like that dude.

That guy is the "alpha male" that this forum likes to talk about.

Aloha!

I saw a similar documentary myself, perhaps the same one. One case-specific example they used concerning gangs in the military was of one L.A. veteran, also a gangbanger, who killed two cops using "fire-and-maneuver" tactics learned during combat training.

Nice Kona.

You would be surprised about how many Americans don't know about that.

Or maybe you wouldn't be surprised.

Not at all surprised.

That kind of stuff used to really bother me. It doesn't anymore.

Just let them keep thinking Maui Wowie is real.

The whole thing is fucking disgusting. I also considered the military at one point, but then I stopped fast at the question:

"Who will I be serving?"

You know I contrast that experience with what Newt Gingrich was able to do in his divorces (no judgment). Gingrich was very successful in navigating the system even given his behavior. Was it down to just superior legal representation for Gingrich, or was it his political influence? Seems to me a guy who had a $3M business could have pursued a far smarter legal strategy, but I suspect that wasn't in him to do, or he just didn't consider it. The article was a little sparse on those details.

The best part is the comment section where people insist the guy must be dangerous or else he wouldn't have been arrested. Derp.
