Some questions about the UK - lawsuits

- Are random crazy lawsuits as common in the UK as in the US?

- Can one be sued for being an asshole in the UK ( telling girls bullshit, calling them fat, things like this ) ?

- Are false rape charges common in the UK?

Any info is welcome on this and similar topics. Thanks.

Random lawsuits are pretty rare and no, you won't be sued for treating someone like shit unless a) it's at work or b) it's "racially motivated". So feel free to come here and "slag off our whores", as it were.

Fake rape syndrome is probably as bad as anywhere, but I can't say I or anyone I know has been accused.

Be interested to hear your plans for our little isle...

Hi I am an English immigrant in Canada right now and am able to give you a few pointers on this:

Lawsuits do exist but not on the same scale or cost in the States. If you call someone fat they will get laughed out of court but if you throw a bottle and hurt someone that could lead to some civil action. Think 'if it is an offence or causes serious injury I may be on the hook'. You are more likely to start a fight going calling people fat - just go to any town on a Saturday night, that experience is a whole thread in it's own right. Oh, and any kind of racial hatred is an offence so don't even go near any of that.

Regarding false rape accusation culture in the UK: the last I heard you need explicit permission and it needs to be done while sober. If you fuck somebody who has had ten pints and can't remember shit and cries rape, you could be on the hook for that so be very careful. Trust no-one.

It might seem a bit depressing for fellow forum readers to see this but that is the hard fact of the matter at the moment. Cover your arse at all times.

Thanks. I'll be careful.

Rocket: What plans are you talking about? I'm just asking. I don't want to live in fear you know. I want to know the truth, the boundaries.

Ah, I just figured you had some incredible asshole game in store if you were looking at the risk of getting sued. Never heard of that happening - can you get sued for things you say in a bar in the US?

It's not as deranged for those things as the US. Thats what I like about being from here. Nothing is as flashy or big or awesome... but nothing is as deranged or insane as either. It's a "sensible" culture (but not without it's problems).
