The way I look at the looks/ image/ grooming/ muscles/ game/ dress/ money debate is that a modern man should expect to be at least 2 SMV points superior than the woman he likes and who wants to claim equality with a socially superior man.
Of course, these 2 SMV points can be gained via 100% game but in the long run, it is tiring to keep game on full throttle. This is what a lot of players found when they began having LTRs with women who were formerly an aspect of their dreams. Something happens in their lives, they ease up on the game and the woman betrays them.
Personally, I try to attain the +2 SMV points comprehensively by covering all of the bases as an all rounder.
