My place is NY-style small but great logistics.
Instead of trying to fight the size, I don't cut corners on furnishings but keep it minimalistic (e.g. less is more).
Also I was recently re-reading Tuthmosis' date thread and it sounds like he has a small studio, which obviously works for him.
And keep it clean...
