Nowadays, the gun is the Alpha.
Take the biggest, baddest, dude. If I have a gun and he doesn't. Then I control the resources.
Tom Brady, Lebron James, Derek Jeter, George St. Pierre, Anderson Silva, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacqiuo, Kimbo Slice, Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Charlie Sheen,...
If I have a gun and they don't. Then, I control the resources.
Hypothetically speaking, I will shoot Tom Brady in the face and rape his model girlfriend.
Does that make me an Alpha?
In the animal world the answer is yes.
In the human world, I don't know, I don't really care. It's all semantics.
The gun isn't alpha because we live in a society that provides law and order.
Otherwise, you'd be 100% right: The strong do what they can, and the weak suffer what they must.
Alpha is a distinction that only makes sense in a world where we cannot realistically use force to get what we want.
