Place to learn surfing? What are better locations?

Padang Padang is not surfable for beginners. It's not surfable for intermediates. It's an advanced-expert break over shallow, razor-sharp coral that only breaks in large swells.
Ubud is an hour from Kuta. That leaves the other 95% of the island.
What places in Bali would you recommend for a beginner surfer?
