Anyone experienced with .22 rimfires? How do they compare to regular centerfired?
Wow! That is like asking how a match compares to a blowtorch.
I own about a dozen .22 rimfire rifles. I would need to go count them to provide an actual number. I also own more than a few .22 handguns.
Compared to centerfire rifles, they are far quieter, have almost no recoil, are far less expensive to shoot because of the low cost of ammunition, and are very versatile (because you can fire long rifle, shorts, BB-caps, CB-caps, etc.) They are very accurate for targets and varmints up to 50 yards. You realistically have a 100 yard limit. (But beware, a stray .22 bullet can kill up to a mile away. This happened near my home town. Always use a backstop.)
If you want to shoot a great deal and just have a blast, a .22 rifle is the way to go. Great for either novices or experts. If you have some open land with a backstop, you are imited only by your imagination.
Thanks, but I was thinking of pistols (should have been clearer). I'm thinking the difference isn't as pronounced then.
