people don't get mad in Kiev if you speak Russian. The only exception I've seen was when I tried walking through Maidan at night. The homeless people who sleep in tents and block off the street wouldn't let us walk through. We spoke to them in Russian and they got pissed (I don't speak any Russian, it was another forum member who spoke). It was very obvious that we were foreigners. Fags. Otherwise I don't think anybody cares. Most people get extremely curious when they realize I'm a foreigner, and if I address them with the little bit of Russian that I do know, they don't care whatsoever. Most people seem forgiving of foreigners here.
