I never really liked the "So, are you from XXXX" line. You more often than not get it wrong. A simple "Hey, I'm FVTT" has worked just about every time. Be loud, have a deep voice, and she will notice you and it will work. It has yet to fail for me. Then, quickly jump in with something else to get the conversation going. No need to make sweeping racial assumptions.
