I like the first reply by aplocater. I'm a White guy who returned to DC after an unsuccessful move to Tampa. The place is great for ONS for vacation. I wouldn't recommend Tampa long-term unless you're the seasoned player who is like Roosh and is self-employed in his own niche.
I would not stay anywhere downtown. If you're thinking of Tampa based off of Google images of downtown, forget that. South Howard is the spot for hot blondes/brunettes wearing skirts and heels (something most RVFers are looking for in a woman). If anything sucks during the week, head to the Hard Rock for all night gambling, booze and random chicks who come to gamble (sometimes ditching their friends to gamble alone when they're in the zone).
Now, July 4th will probably be a shitshow like Gasparilla. You should find someone with a boat and hang out on the water all day.
Jackson's is a turbo bar, but chicks will approach you (and as far as Tampa, I got approached by chicks much more than DC).
Before I moved to Tampa, I used Priceline's name your own bid function. I hopped from hotel to hotel from downtown Tampa, St. Pete Beach, and downtown St. Petersburg. In my opinion, I don't think you should bother with Clearwater. But El Mech may beg to differ. Just float around a bit, but don't bother with North Tampa.
