I read Roosh's post on his blog about the power elite, and I was interested in his comment that one threat to the power elite was in fact nationalism itself, as people self identifying as a cohesive, homogenous group. I had not thought much of this before but I think he is right.

I was reading Aeon (an interesting online magazine) and saw this article. It talks about essentially old school nationalism as a driver for geopoltics, for example in what is happening Eastern Europe. I'm not sure this is the full explanation for what's happened in Crimea, but I'm not an expert.

The article is interesting because it attempts to give a quasi evolutionary argument invoking game theory for how nationalism is propagated through civilization, even though extreme nationalism may not be a rational choice for any particular individual.
