Evolution and sex should throw up some interesting avenues in the future.
For instance - I was reading a book that said it is only a matter of time before sexually transmitted diseases start to make you look more sexy.
Sounds weird, right?
But the idea is that the disease/virus/parasite which causes a sexual transmitted diseases will mutate over time. And the mutations which happen to make the host (ie person) appear sexier - will be the ones which spread more quickly.
I imagine - that if this were to happen - evolution would start fighting back and evolve a defense mechanism. Such that we would start to find unattractive people attractive. And attractive people - unattractive.
And it would kick start an arms race - in which our notions of beauty would repeat in a in a cycle over long periods of time.
Either way - it is an interesting example of the weird effects that evolution can throw up.
Maybe it has happened already?
Perhaps the chicks we consider hot today:
