I wear the Red Wing 4403 6 inch steel toe, every day at work. They start at $210. The last pair I bought back in August, I sprung for the $50 moldable insoles, and they were well worth the money. I've also started to spend more money on socks. Red Wing makes nice socks, but they are a bit pricey at $10/pair. I can stand in water and mud all day and my feet stay dry. Cheaper boots simply don't keep the water out for long. The leather is thick and heavy, but that's fine for working around rebar and concrete.
Red Wing guarantees their stitching forever. The previous pair I had, I burned some of the seams after getting too close with a chop saw. Red Wing repaired them at no cost. Laces are free. New soles are about $100. Don't take them to anyone but a Red Wing store for repairs or else you'll void your warranty and the work won't be as good as what Red Wing will do. And no, you don't have a local cobbler who can do better work.
