Also, beauty standards are racialized (i.e., favors white women, light-skinned/mixed black women over dark-skinned black women, etc.) I never noticed this, but a chic pointed out that while she was in the U.S. she wanted to dye her hair black. And guess what? She couldn't find it! Go to any pharmacy and there'll be like 50 different shades of blonde dyes, a few brown dyes, and virtually no black dyes.
