Interesting thread. Some great posts on here.
I actually agree strongly with Nomad77 because before I started work in an office post college I already had lived abroad for a year in southern europe and asia plus lots of travel in SA. After my time abroad I had trouble connecting with my office peers and their TV, sports, materialism obsessions and I also found I hated spending time around American women(I made do with dating foreign women). I lasted about 2 years in the US post college and have been abroad since then some 4 years now. Like VV I will do everything in my power to make it work abroad because it is vital to my happiness. One of the reasons I can connect so well with the members of this forum is because I dont feel like I have to explain why I choose to live as an expat. Its very hard to explain to people why I like country X more than the US because most people are so worried that they could be making the wrong decisions about their life it is very uncomfortable for someone else to tell them a new life in Country X might be better than life in the US. Everyone needs to find their way in the world but I consider myself blessed to have experienced the benefits of life abroad at an early age as I couldn´t imagine having to wait to by 40´s or 50´s to discover LA, SEA and Europe.
