I was thinking about that too, but I think the key is to think long-term numbers. What I mean is that if an expense is lower one month or for one trip, don't run out and buy yourself something cool or blow it on partying. Instead, credit it towards the next month or the next location. That way it all balances out.
Certainly would take a bit of self control.
