In very poor countries, women are generally less corrupt and better at money management than men. They have less of a tendency to get drunk, spend money on cigarettes instead of school, and are less likely to commit various forms of child abuse. I have always believed that was the proof that the ridiculousness we are witnessing on modern women is a product of circumstances, not an absolute rule, and that women are just as capable of making right decisions.
Sadly, however, this ability only seems to function in extremely poor societies like Tanzania or Cambodia. As soon as it catches but a whiff of economic prosperity and emancipation, it seems to flee.
