It is true that the nightlife is not as plentiful as other cities in Canada for sure. That being said, this is simply a matter of opinion and we'll probably just have to agree to disagree.
For some perspective, I too was born and raised in Winnipeg until I moved to LA and so forth. I know the city inside out as well. I've also travelled to Russia, Central Europe, Australia, as well as every major city in Canada and the U.S.
Firstly, I use to think Winnipeg had above average quality of women, I no longer do after my travels. It just doesn't have 9s and 10s. I don't even think that is up for debate. Even TO doesn't have many 9s and 10s. I also don't think the quality is better than AB, but it is comparable.
Secondly, a little known fact of Winnipeg is its surprising diversity. It has the largest filipino and first nations community in Canada. Large italian, greek, west indian populations. I know the middle eastern population is growing but not huge. South and central american population is overstated, deebow. It's not enough to mention.
Thirdly, it has always and still is the case that in the summer the hottest girls (typically white) go to the lake (West Hawk Lake, for example) with their friends and party. Most ethnic girls are still in the city, but the drop off is very noticeable. The city is simply more vibrant in May and Sept, than it is in the summer.
Is Winnipeg worth checking out? Hell ya, pussy does not get easier. But it is a small town with limited nightlife. Everytime I go back I can't believe I grew up there. Corydon seems so so small and people so so simplistic. Good place to raise a family though and bloody cheap.
