Tiraspol and PMR is more modern than Moldova. It has casinos, well stocked supermarkets, luxury car showrooms, modern stadiums, new hotels amd travel agencies advertising trips to Turkey. Locals travel to Russia etc. whenever they want as they have Russian internal passports.
If you want 'time capsule vibe' then the nearest approximation is provincial Belarus but even there that ship has sailed. People have I-phones and drive Lexus's and the girls have been to Sunny Beach for their summer holidays.
There is only one true 'Soviet' experience out there: North Korea.
I disagree, most girls never went to the west and surely Lexus is not common at all. There is only 1 western style hotel- Russia hotel.
The common girls entertainment is buying a cheap 1 liter beer plastic bottle and drink it in the nearby park.
Although it is not like "time capsule vibe back to Soviet times", it still hardly have westerners and has a unique atmosphere.
