This appears to work only in Hollywood movies. Whenever I try this in practice, they flake at 99,99% rate. They won't jump straight from a casual conversation to a one-on-one date, no matter how innocuously you frame it to her. Unless you're deep in the friendzone and she doesn't expect you to have enough balls to express any sexuality towards her.
