Honestly, I could care less for beta nerds/geeks. At a certain point, you have to start accepting your responsibility.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very much a nerd (got degree in engineering). I used to be incredibly shy. But I went out of my way to become more social. I'm an introvert by nature, so it wasn't easy. It took me a lot of effort, but I got better.
I've had other nerds look down on me for joining a fraternity in college and going out on a regular basis. The irony was that I got better grades than all of them. The difference was I spent my free time improving my social skills. They spent their free time improving their WoW characters.
