Sierra, I would be willing to bet that the old guy put in more hard work than Demi Lovato, it's just that adults invested in Demi Lovato when they saw that she had young talent, so her acting career and singing career were opportunities which presented themselves. The "hard work" you're talking about does not justify her simply getting the opportunity in the first place, hard work is a given; it's a function of being successful. The old guy has probably been practicing for many years, maybe playing at bars or singing in churches since his 20s and raising a family in the meantime, to be criticized by a young girl who never could have known differently. Demi Lovato has never had to struggle in her life. The old guy knows that his breakout performance is probably never going to happen, but he still has hope.
