I saw all the Brazilian movies named, plus TONS more. I would have to say that hands down the best Brazilian flick I saw was "Meu Nome Nao E Johnny." Did you see this one Chocolatinha? Such a good movie, but you can't find it in the US
Another suggestion I have is, "The Boys and Girls Guide to Getting Down." It should still be on Netflix watch instantly. I know the tittle sounds lame, the only reason I watched it was because of the description. It turned out to be fucking awesome. Check it out if you get a chance.
Another good foreign flick is a German flick called "Run Lola Run!" or "Lola Rent!"
Pretty much anything by the Coen Brothers. Fargo, Raising Arizona, the Big Lebowski, The Hudsucker Proxy, Lady Killers. The only ones of theirs I wouldn't suggest are Bloodsimple, A Serious Man, or Barton Fink.
