So, I'll throw in some advice from my own personal experience here.
I am was in similar situation to this around last year. I am currently in Atlanta, GA, United States.
I was working on a computer science degree. I didn't have good grades in High School, and went to a local 2 year college. While at school, I did a shit job. I had no passion or drive whatsoever, and ended up with around a 2.5 GPA.
Not only this, but I racked up around 10k in debt while only halfway through the degree. I WISH my parents would have paid for my school. At least in this way, I could afford to do more than a 2 year associates and get a real degree (Bachelors).
I ended up taking the summer off, getting a personal training certification. Started a job. I started lifting weights like a fucking mad man. I always was an athlete and heavily believe that you MUST choose something you have a TALENT at.
TALENT = Other people telling you that you are good at it.
"What i'm asking here though is this: Am i lacking the balls to just drop uni and tell the dumb boomers to gtfo so i can then get a job, to save money, to prepare for my permanent exit from wage slavery?"
Friend, in the United States, around 44% percent of college graduates with a degree are UNEMPLOYED. This was in 2016. Personal training makes me around 20-30$ an hour. I run my own hours and how hard I work (in basically sales) determines what I will get paid.
I know people with a degree who are making lattes at Starbucks. And around half of the degree holders are in fucking debt, with no JOB AT ALL.
Job = Fixed Wage
Career = Performance Determined Income.
So what to do? Whatever you are GOOD at. Fuck doing something you "love", do something you can absolutely kill it in that industry.
You can work any job until you start you own business. This is the only true way to escape wage slavery.
If you have a bachelor's it WILL be easier to get a better wage when you start. Better wage = More $ towards starting your biz.
A hustler is going to be successful, regardless of college or not. Decide what you are good at, pursue that, and hustle your ass off.
