This is the kind of move I see guys doing when they are frightful when I'm hitting on their girl. It conveys scarcity, weakness, fear to lose the girl.
Bad move, as many others have said. I actually interpret guys kisisng their girls and coiling up to them when in my presence almost as a compliment to my game. I've been so threatening to him that he felt intimidated. This kinda move on his part actually works for me. This is how you start to pull a robbery, actually.
On the flip side, I handle this by being firm and straight to the guy when he hits a girl I'm with. After talking a bit with him, I touch him, stare to his eyes and say "dude, get this: she's with me."
If I sense the guy is cool and just wasn't aware of it, I say "I respect what you are doing here, but she's with me".
It is about being firm, straight. No need to be angry or rude.
Muscles help convey your dominance. Your body language and shape might to the trick by itself. Sometimes body language is all you need.
