His conclusions from what I've read so far (I'm about three quarters of the way through the book) fit precisely with what you're saying: he had very fertile ground to prowl for women. There were a couple of big reasons for this. Firstly, Japanese men ignore girls who are over 25 years old and single, who are single moms, or who have any thickness at all (curvy Beyonce-type physiques = obese in Japan). This isn't like america where significantly overweight or obese 35 year olds insist that they have many options and are fantastic catches-in Japan, these women are what Bryan called "untouchables". There are a lot of them, and they are very sexually frustrated.
Going on from this, I recommend that you all watch The Great Happiness Space. The highest paying profession for Japanese men in their early 20s is a host club worker. And all they do is sit in bars, talk to women (who are usually only around the 30-year mark), and make them happy. Sex isn't on the cards usually but a lot of it is implied.
The older women there are basically so frustrated that they go to bars and pay ridiculous amounts of money to the guys who work there to have them run game on them. Which is pretty much the opposite of how it operates in the rest of the world.
