The results of the Italian referendum will be known tomorrow morning, along with the Austrian Presidential Elections.
One of the most interesting things about the 5 Star Movement that is spearheading the anti-establishment movement in Italy is that it refuses to be classified as left or right wing, and insists it is just a movement. Now you might normally say that because of this, divisions within the party are inevitable and will lead to infighting and the party fracturing after a while.
However, the 5 Star Movement are greatly in favour of direct democracy and want to modernise politics by using the internet for political functions such as finding out the opinions of its members, to decide how the party will vote in Parliament.
They have a mix of policies which guys here will see as left-wing, and some that are right-wing. They are pro-environment (bear in mind in Italy this is different to the US as there is no huge fossil fuel industry) so they are against the destruction of the countryside by things like vanity project railways, etc.
They are firmly Eurosceptic and want to bring back the Lira, although this would obviously be put through a referendum. Read up on them, very interesting.
