I've never been to South or Central America. Mexico might be fine, too. I'm trying to figure out somewhere to chill in May for about nine days.
What's a good *chill* one or two city/town trip? I don't mind eye candy, but I really don't care much about nightlife this go round, which seems to be a major focus here. I like good architecture, art museums, and maybe some live music.
The idea is to unwind somewhere aesthetically nice and interesting. I'll walk around a lot, and work a couple hours a day on the laptop.
If decent hotel rooms can be had for less than $100 USD I'd probably do that over hostels.
I have respectably functional high school Spanish, though not really conversational. I struggle with accents, but I've successfully sorted things out in Spanish a dozen times, and would like to practice. So I'm a little disinclined to Brazil, but could be convinced.
