For a decent part of last year I was "technically" unemployed: I was working on starting my small business and had yet to earn a single dollar, totally reliant on side-hustles. Living every day with overall negative cash flow.
I honestly never did better with women in my life.
Drive a new-ish car that's in good repair, dress and carry yourself well (and that doesn't have to mean expensive), take care of your grooming/appearance, and spit good game and at least give the impression you have interests and ambitions in life, and don't seem ashamed of who you are or where you're at and thousands upon thousands of young women out there in the Western world won't give a damn if you're 30 and live in your mama's basement. They really won't.
