Actually it would've been avoided if he hadn't brandished his gun, if things went as I understand them. Brandishing a gun is a crime, felon or not.
I think it is insane to have people out in society who cannot be trusted with a gun. If they can't be trusted with a gun, why are they not in prison?
As far as I'm concerned, ongoing punishment by stripping people of rights after they've served their time is utterly immoral and nonsensical. Either keep them locked up, or release them to rejoin us as citizens with full rights.
