The person that NTP needs to make an apology to is oneeyedjack. He gifted ~$1500 ($21(?)x75 gold memberships), or something to that degree, to the forum directly as a result of advice received from NTP. Now if it turned out that this advice that was provided was simply available on Wikipedia, do you think that oneeyedjack would be too pleased? I do not think so. I agree with other posters that this member, NTP, is a liability, not asset to the forum and anything shy of a ban will not reflect too well on the credibility of this forum.
That is what makes many of us so confused over this whole thing. Apparently oneeyedjack offered to give NASA Test Pilot that money, but NTP refused it and asked oneeyedjack to pay it forward to the community. It is not congruent with someone who would be selfish. I think that's why many are giving him the benefit of the doubt that would not be extended to others under similar circumstances. Again, all we can do is wait until NTP provides a response, otherwise everything is just speculation.
One theory (highly speculative) I can put forward is that perhaps he felt too guilty accepting a large sum of money in exchange for work that he had passed on as his own, and he figured he was doing the right thing to pass it forward. I know that if someone were to offer me money for my contributions I would definitely accept and say thank you with a big smile.
