Yes and Vale was a lot more brutal on the local labour force than Inco ever was. The strike that Vale took lasted a long time and essentially broke the union's back, which isn't always a bad thing. It worked when Reagan did it to the air traffic controllers and it can be a very appropriate measure, when the union deserves it. But those miners didn't deserve it and the foreign owners just didn't give a fuck.
