It's something some countries brainwash their kids with. Eastern Europe has always been a land of turmoil, conflicts and wars. Independence and autonomy was not always certain. Many people there fought and died for their country. So, the people there love their country more than in more civilized nations, because the uncertainty of the future of their nations
Turks, at the other hand, are among the most (irrationally) nationalstic/patriotic people ever because they teach children at school to be patriotic and ultra-nationalistic. Every morning before school they have to swear allegience to the Turkish state and say good morning to a statue of their dead dictator Mustafa Kemal Atatürk lol. Americans are also a pretty irrationally patriotic nation. Their country is filled with Americans flags and their patriotism blinds them to the point that they actually think they won the Vietnam war.
