If a younger American girl calls you 'sir', is that the equivalent of a British girl calling you 'mate'?

(i.e. translation; "don't go getting any ideas".)

The American equivalent of Mate is Dude. Chicks who call guys "Dude" are to be ignored.

Sir is actually respectful and can be either fake (customer services to a client) or real (conservative with good education, calling other people Sir and Ma'am).
The latter is quite rare these days and while it speaks to the quality of the girl is still not indicative of any sexual vibes.

If she is military or police - run Commanding Officer game?

If it's the counter girl at McDonald's / Walmart don't bother.

Subs like to call men Sir or Daddy.

Other than customer service, anytime I've ever heard an American woman say "sir" is when she says it dripping with mocking sarcasm.

"Hey darling, get me a sandwich will ya?"

"Yes... SIR!" (with that snarky head shimmer ending with an eyeroll)

...

...

I'm still waiting for that sandwich, bitch.

If she is into BDSM it's a good thing.

"Oh please, 'Sir' is my cock's name. You can call me Jetset when you're talking to my face."

Note: This may not work as well with female cops.

This would suggest formal distancing.

You really have to read the woman to see what she means and adjust from there.

A good test in any case would be to say "I don't like 'sir'. (It brings back memories of the war.) Try <insert other dominant nickname here>."

I had this happen the other day. I was not expecting it from this young woman. But so it went.

Me: Grab another bag from the car.

Her: Yes, sir.

Me: Try Daddy.

Her: Which bag?

Me: As many as you can carry.

Her: (silent and grabbed two more)

And it turned out to be a decent night of kitchen work and sex. Not the best, but quite a fine time, all things considered.

No. It's going to be sarcasm 99.9% of the time.

I just ignore it or make the girl keep calling me sir "as a joke."

The thing is that they subconsciously can't tell the difference between a joke and reality, so she'll be in a submissive frame.

It depends. I know some women who will subtly dismiss a guy by saying something like sir or bruh, and the guy is clueless he is wasting his time.

no. 2 of my rotation girls call me sir jokingly because they're both 8-10 years younger.

Make her call you "El Conquistador:"

I'm fine with being called sir. I've lived and worked quite a bit in the southeast, and it's normal for people to be called sir or ma'am there. It's funny, because guys in the north will say "Don't call me sir", but in the south, it's just normal. Frankly, I like it.

At least in the south, if a girl called you sir, and the circumstances were otherwise such that you would try to pull her, then I'd say there'd be no problem. Hell, even in the north I wouldn't let it stop me from trying if I was interested in her.

If she's not being sarcastic it's all to the good. If you can't tell, calibrate better.
