Why didn't they just adopt some already living kid out of poverty? This just proves how kids are seen as the last stable resort in this unstable world. For this, parents make their kids their personal project. You can lose your partner, your job, your car. But your kids, your live long project, them you own complete.

There was even a movie that examined this issue back in the '90s. It's called "Losing Isaiah" and starred Halle Berry as a drug-addicted mother whose baby gets adopted by a white family. At the time, this movie sparked a lot of articles and talk show segments about the topic.

As for this couple, the very fact that the guy wrote an article about this in the Washington Post shows he's in it for the attention. Raising these kids is one thing; making himself a minor celebrity in the process is another.

He claims to be religious but seems to have forgotten that one of the tenants of the Christian religion is NOT to brag about good deeds. He's done the print equivalent of shouting it from the rooftops.
