The Mexicans 'Maná' used to be quite blue pill, but in the last times they have transitioned to something much more interesting. Check out the story of this video, no need to understand Spanish:

Hip-hop/reggaettón
Este género ha sido popularizado por artistas tales como Daddy Yankee y Don Omar. Gracias a ellos ha surgido una nueva generación de reggeatoneros metrosexuales, tales como J Balvin, todos con éxitos dignos de mención.
Pero el ganador es un grupo innovador que ha elevado el reggaettón a otro plano. Cabe mencionar... bitches love Calle 13.

Great post Kamikaze, Calle 13 y Soda Stereo en particular son míticos.
For me, Buena Vista Social Club never gets old and is very accessible.
I've found that Rioplatense electrotango is great mood music for having a woman over. Gotan Project and my personal favorite Bajofondo - they are great live as well.
Bomba Estéreo is a quality Colombian outfit with some really danceable tracks.
I'll have to get back to this thread for more stuff from Spain, but for those who are into punk, this short Siniestro Total album might be the Spanish punk album por excelencia:
