In his performance first posted online by Philadelphia Magazine, Buress claimed that Cosby — best known for his role as Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable and three decades of classic stand-up — was a hypocrite for doling out family-oriented advice when numerous allegations of rape have been made against The Cosby Show star since the 1970s.
"Thirteen?" Buress said about the number of women who have come forward alleging sexual abuse by the star. "And it’s even worse because Bill Cosby has the f---ing smuggest old black man public persona that I hate. Pull your pants up, black people. I was on TV in the '80s. I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom."
Buress, 31, then railed against the star directly. "Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby," he claimed. "So, brings you down a couple notches. I don’t curse on stage. Well, yeah, you’re a rapist, so, I’ll take you sayin’ lots of motherf---ers on Bill Cosby: Himself if you weren’t a rapist. …I want to just at least make it weird for you to watch Cosby Show reruns. …I’ve done this bit on stage, and people don’t believe. People think I’m making it up. …That s--- is upsetting. If you didn’t know about it, trust me."
Also Hannibal follows up on his comments on the Howard Stern show:

Buress said that this is the first time in his 13-year comedy career that his material has generated major controversy. In fact, he noted that he had been performing the bit about Cosby "off and on for six months" before it went viral.
The 'Broad City' star said that he created the bit after reading about the sexual assault allegations against the legendary comedian. Cosby has been accused of raping at least 13 women in assaults that took place as far back as the 1970s. Cosby never responded to the charges and has not been charged with any wrongdoing.
"It's just information that's out there," Buress said. ""I said it and I gotta stand on it, but it is an interesting situation."

^ Yeah, I don't get why any of us are hating on the guy. Funny or not, he's a stand-up comedian making fun of a famous person that has been accused of rape 13 times, and a famous person popularized for his wholesome demeanor, no less.
I don't care who you are - if you've been accused of rape by 13 women, you're not only begging to be laughed at, whether you did it or not, but you're going to get laughed at. Hell, my friends would never let me hear the end of it if I got accused of rape even one time. That's just how the world works.
We can't be getting that touchy around here that we're calling out for slander charges when a comedian heckles a guy about multiple rape accusations, can we?

This pisses me off. I love Cosby. Unlike most sitcoms and comedians today or then, his show was clever and well-written, and people will still watch it in 50 years. And yes, he leans feminist, but Cosby is willing to ostracize himself in order to speak a much-needed truth.

There is a difference. For example, one of my favorite comics - Norm MacDonald - made a joke on his Sports Show about "a fateful first meeting with Kobe Bryant in a hotel room" [paraphrased] insinuating that he might have raped the girl. But we've been making OJ did it jokes for a long time. Is this different? I think it is, because of the higher problem of false rape vs. false murder accusations, and the completely different societal response to them. Even Chris Rock's famous "I understand why OJ did it" bit only insinuates strongly that OJ did it. He keeps saying "I'm not saying he did it". That is how comedy works.
Now I support his right to say anything in standup- the last bastion of free speech - but is this libel? I'm not a lawyer so you can help me on this.
What I also support is for this guy to get the shit beat out of him verbally because this was a sucker punch bitch move of a joke weather or not it was actually libel. It is like Aziz getting cheap applause for parroting feminism on Letterman, only worse because he is also accusing someone of a crime without proof.
Just because someone is falsely accused 1 time or 10 times, to me it is still the same if they are found innocent. I personally have been accused of the vague "sexual misconduct" twice. I didn't become less innocent after the second incident.

No offense, but you're taking this way too seriously. You're debating the societal implications between two different kind of rape jokes or calling someone a rapist vs. a murderer because of crime statistics.

I'm not a lawyer either, but I'm pretty sure it's not libel and I'd be interested to hear about any past cases where a comedian has been sued for something said during an act.
Dave Chappelle made not one but two satire music videos that featured R Kelly pissing and shitting on groups of women, and he wasn't sued as far as I know.

Take it as a poor joke you don't find funny and move on. Some comedians make a living strictly off of doing staunchly controversial comedy and rants. I think Buress is pretty funny personally, and if someone's deliery is good they can make any controversial topic funny and relatable. Hell look at Bill Burr, Jim Jeffries, or on the more extrme spectrum Doug Stanhope. I don' see anything wrong here - after all it is just a joke.
