One of my past hobbies was drumming (HS and college) and as I hit my quarter life crisis I'd like to get back to playing.

Unfortunately where I live a regular set would get the neighbors hysterical, so to the drummers out there which is some of the better electronic sets?

V drums are supposed to be good, but nothing beats the acoustic stuff.

Maybe try brushes.

Brushes are fine, but you won't get to really pound on them. My buddy back east had a sick electronic kit, he said it was the closest he found to feeling like the real thing. I'll find out what he recommends. The good ones are expensive tho.

I bought an Alesis DM-7x because it was dirt cheap at Costco. I got what I paid for. In Alesis' defense, their customer service has been very good about continuing to replace the cymbal heads that keep breaking.

Yamaha electronic - next best

All mad expensive....

All other ...Simmons looks ok on the cheap side...

Yamaha and Roland both created a triggered real head feel for their kits

Roland V-Drums are sweet - just make sure you get MESH heads, they make a world of difference. I'm a terrible drummer, but insist on having "one of everything" in my home studio (for others to play when we're writing), including a nice set of V-Drums.

Anything by Alesis should serve your needs well but I've found myself leaning towards the Alesis 10X more than not lately.
