What are the best ways to earn without becoming too successful - Vi1 - 07-12-2014
I am coming back from a happy sabbatical and intent to keep things that way. The point is if I become consistent in any way my freedom will be marred by internal[family] and external[the profession itself] expectations. What do you consider best 1 shot or event based earning opportunities in addition to Stock/Real Estate.

Your post is vague. Are you looking for location independence?
Are you motivated to start a small business?
What are your motivations and skills?

Let me add a few more details about the motivation behind this post :
1] I am at a stage where people around me have little expectation of me, which gives me an immense amount of freedom.
2] Small Business[Which I have not yet done] and Consults[Which I have been doing for past 5 years] will tend to set a pattern of consistency which I want to avoid specially as I try to figure out my best course of action.
3] I do not mind small business specially if it is not very visible and I can do it without it coming out as something I do as a routine
4] Location Independent - Yes, That's why I want to know about event based activities so that I can have few parallel threads between which I can switch without too much concentration on one thread.
5] Skills - I am tech guy, but it really does not matter if what I do is in tune with that, in fact I am looking to get into stuff I have not gotten into till now. So ideally yes 4-5 earning activities based on different aspects, they could be anything under the sun.
6] So the end goal is to achieve diversity, earn money and not to be too successful. Rather just enough to achieve my goals which may vary with time so I can tune my activities if I have diversity at my side.
