Latino Breaking Bad - Don - 03-28-2014

1 minute in the clip i started thinking that it looks pretty serious in comparison with other spoofs..then i realized this is actually a thing that's going to be on TV. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

A bunch of the biggest shows in the States are remakes of Aussie and BBC shows...

Latino Breaking Bad - CactusCat589 - 03-28-2014

The American remakes are better than the original, though. This will be hilariously shitty.

More like Walter Gringo.

To be fair, latino Gus Fring will speak english with a swedish accent.

Damn, they're really trying to go 1:1 with this shiet down to Latina Marie's purple clothing. At the very least, I think it'd be good to watch to get a feel for the language considering you know the plot and can kind of fit the dialogue into your understanding of the story.

One of my line cooks learned to speak functional conversational Spanish in 6 months by watching telenovelas 2 hours a day so there is precedent.

Appears to be a 99% copy. Why couldn't they take the basic idea and spin new ideas/plots from it?

I agree with Don, I thought, well it looks pretty good for a parody video, they over use the periodic table squares title way too much but still not bad for something someone threw together. Then I saw that this is real, damn.

Because they dont need to. There are, what, 15 million mexicans living in the US that cant speak english? They didnt saw the original. Plus, a secondary market of millions of adults in latinamerica that dont even know what Netflix is, least of all Bittorrent.

Cutting out writers, and making directors follow a shot by shot schedule makes things easier and cheaper. Since there is less money to be made from a remake made for an specific target audience, it makes sense.

I really don't understand the purpose of this. If a Spanish-speaking person doesn't know English, he can watch Breaking Bad with Spanish subtitles and problem solved. And if he can't read, then the series could be dubbed, but in that case clearly the person has bigger problems than the lack of good TV shows.

Latino Breaking Bad - Beyond Borders - 03-29-2014

I imagine they're paying for the right to do this.

So what is Los Pollos Hermanos going to be - KFC?...Colonel Sanders as Gus Fring?

Latino Breaking Bad - Sonsowey - 03-29-2014

Wow weird that people are seemingly upset at a remake.

Films and tv are remade all the time.

In TV shows, like movies, the business is not in making hits, but in making a lot of them.

It doesnt matters if a movie bombs or a show tanks, its already paid for. For studios and producers, theres more money to be made doing remakes of hit shows, than in just dubbing over them and broadcasting them to the same audience.

They're upset because Breaking Bad was the pinnacle of production values on tv. A critically acclaimed show with the awards and fans to prove it. Great writing, great acting, great story, great everything. It's easily in the top 5 tv shows of all time, and will most likely hold that mantle for the foreseeable future.

I get the idea that this is being remade to be more suitable for the Latino market, but it tarnishes the show's stellar reputation, as no doubt this version will not meet the lofty heights of the original.
