Money Hate - QuillanGornt - 01-06-2014

Hey everyone,

I'm rather new here so excuse me if this is posted in the wrong area.

Lately it seems that the general consensus among the mass media middle class is that people with money somehow don't deserve what they earned, that they only have it because of some sort of "privilege" or they had to rip someone off to earn their net worth.

Recently i was discussing "Covered California" (my states version of Obamacare) and was told i should be happy to pay 25% higher insurance premiums simply because i can afford it.

I'm wondering if this attitude is limited to California or if this is fast becoming a nationwide thought process..

Not just a Cali thing, you will see plenty of people here that feel the same way.

Normally those guys are working for someone else not making enough to worry about paying extra. It typically stems from jealousy because others have become more successful.

It's long ingrained. It may have something to do with minimum wage not being tied to production in anyway. Something along the line of I make $6/hour at McDonalds. I make six double cheeseburgers in the first 5 minutes paying that $6. Where does the money for the other 55 minutes go?

Money hate, player hate, or just plain old hate hate. It's divide and conquer. If we're at each others throats we never work at fixing real problems.

It's a quitter mentality. I used to associate with people like that. What kills me the most about liberals is when you're a well off male they will take from you and expect you to be ok with it. I started to get really annoyed at this "unwritten" code of mediocrity. To this day it irks me as working in a large corporation makes you beholden to the unwritten code of mediocrity.

Mediocrity is the best word to describe it. Success is punished and mediocrity is encouraged.

Depends. If you work for a guy who's coasting, then mediocrity will be encouraged because anything else inherently rocks the boat. But if you work for an ambitious boss, he's not going to tolerate mediocrity because he's looking to rise. A talented and hard working team is essential to his own success.

I've worked for both types in a large corporation and the difference is night and day.

If someone hates money it is because they do not have it.
