This is the best simulation I've seen of what the completed Sagrada Familia will look like. They're trying to complete it by 2026. I doubt they'll hit that deadline as they've been working on this building since the 1800s and it's still nowhere close to finished.
But when they do finish it, it's gonna be a sight to behold:

More like the "Gaudy" Cathedral.

This is one of two buildings where I had to gasp for air and choke on a tear when I entered the naive (the other is the Sultan Ahmed Mosque in Istanbul).
Incredible.

I went there but the line was clear around the block and then some (went in August) so I took a picture in front of it and went on my way. I'll definitely try to go again before its completed and after as well.

I don't know, I think it's a little too understated for my taste.

Probably because I'm not an architect or construction worker, I just can't wrap my mind around how they can build the new spires without the existing ones getting in their way, particularly the huge center spire. It has to interfere with the cranes in some way...
It's a really magnificent building. Might be a bit pointless to build an enormous church at such a cost, but people do a lot of pointless things (as Oscar Wilde said, "all art is pointless"). It's wondrous how this projects has survived so many different governments and eras.

Agreed, saw it this past summer, I have never been moved by a building in my life till then, just spectacular.
The incredible part is that because of the constant construction - every time you visit it - it's a new experience.
Just one of the reasons I love Barcelona.
the 3 Euro Doner Kebabs and 1 Euro beers are another

Id say that any building that makes people gasp in awe is worth it.

I was inside the Cathedral. Gaudy studied the structure of trees as inspiration for his architecture. The inside columns of the church spread out like trees - with a trunk, and branches. The architecture of Barcelona is based on nature - you see lots of buildings that look like eggs and seashells.
