Whats a good salary in Mexico DF? -

I have the opportunity to get an entry level job in Mexico DF. The job sounds fun and the industry itself (renewable energy) is obviously a growing one.
My question to all you Mexicans/ Expats: How much money do you need to live comfortably in DF?

Depending on your standard of living. But a guy graduating out of the university, a good salary would be 20K pesos.
If you have 3-5 years experience, you should get around 40K at least per month.
Good luck!

It depends, I have friends that just graduated and are at a Big 4 doing audit. They earn 10k pesos and work like 70 hours a week.
An elite job at a consulting firm, fortune 100 or big bang is 30k pesos
A good entry job is 20k pesos with 0-1years of experience
Depends a lot on your area, usually engineers are paid much more than "licenciados".
At the end is better to consider your cost of living instead of your earnings. A lot changes if you live in Polanco or San Miguel Chapultepec.
PM me if you have any doubt.

Foreigners usually earn more than locals with the same degrees or qualifications.
20k + benefits should be a nice deal for an entry level job. Ask for more if you can.

Thanks for the input fellas. I have a Master's degree in Business and about 1 year of experience, in a different industry, though. I know that they are paying something like 16k-20k for similar positions, so I guess that their offer will be somewhat reasonable, especially considering that the guaranteed workload will be 40hs/week. Anyway, I have another interview with them today and we will talk money this time.

Id be careful, 40/hrs a week might mean a split of morning/lunch with colleagues / back to office till 7 . .. socializing with coworkers on weekends and etc is expected. OTOH, this gives access to a social circle.
Ask for as much as you can, you cant have too much scratch in MC

The package they are offering seems to be pretty decent by Mexican standards: 19k/monthly + benefits, extra health insurance, 13th salary and a bonus payout at the end of the year. Office hours are from 7-15:30 or 8:30-17:00h with lunch break. Gotta think about it.

Pretty decent. Make sure that the hours are like that, lot of people facetime and the bosses expect it.

I think is good enough, just keep in mind that in Mexico the jumps of salary between positions and yearly increases can be significant, for example at P&G between one level to the next the jump can be twice the salary, vs, the US where the jumps can be at most 30%....good luck

Germanico, great posts on Mexico. I was wondering if you and Bars could help me out on this one. Salaries aren't looking too good in Puebla (10-12K) and I may just have to pony up in DF.
About to graduate from college;
US Degree in International Business;
Fluent in English/Spanish and conversational French/Russian;
Dual citizenship;
Got family in both cities and know my way around them;
Experience: 5 years of manual labor / administrative assistant / sales and 3 marketing internships (law firm, non-profit, sales research firm).
Age: 19-21, taking into account business sometimes post "edad: de X a X años).
What kind of salary can I get from these qualifications? Should I apply at a US multinational instead of a local firm?
Most of the job searches I find are internet posts that pay 9-12K, by my pipope friend mentioned that internet ads lowball and to rather apply in person.
Thanks.
