Things you'd do if you had more free time? - Jbk - 05-05-2013

Okay, it may often be just an excuse but what things would you like I do if you had more free time?

For me, I would like to learn to sail a yacht. Looked into it and its a bit time consuming for me right now. One day...

Well, I have all the time in the world right now and am running out of money, so I'm looking for a job. [Image: undecided.gif]

I wish I had more time to do nothing. I often feel a day spent doing stuff and being busy - is a day wasted.

I love nothing more than sitting around the house reading books.

I have linked to it before. But I love this joke:

I agree with Jane Austen. One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other.

Learning to sail ain't hard or mega time consuming. Ask your friends find out who has an old sunfish in the garage(someone you know does) read a book get in and figure it out. Or find your locl sailboat racing leagues and offer up yourself as rail meat(crew that doubles as ballast) quite a bit of sailing is blue collar/middle class, the posh stuff isn't all of it.

Was advised to check out "rail meat" route after taking a sailing class in Annapolis. The instructor also claimed it was a great networking tool also. I just might get back in the groove since the season is upon us.

Read for pleasure. I'm in my last year of University and hardly have anytime to read what i want, as soon as I graduate i'm locking myself in a room for a week with a tonne of books.

I'd like to sit in a coffee shops in the sun, getting the heat hitting my brow as I sit in my shirt and shorts, relaxing, hitting on cute girls waltzing past.

Have you checked out the sailing schools in your area (London)? They are generally geared towards working people and will teach you the basics over a few weekends or during a 1 week vacation with follow up sailing time to make sure you have the basics down. I only have experience with the schools in the US but I assume the curriculum is similar in the UK.

One of these days I'm going to dedicate a solid 2-4 months to learning how to grow high quality, potent in door marijuana. I will likely do this in British Columbia Canada, they know a thing or two about growing good dope there.

I would sleep more and read more. And stay up late all the time. I really wish days were 32 hours long.

Read more books. I already read at least a book a month, if not one book a week. Most of the times I can finish a good 200 page book in a sitting.

Spend more time with my family.

Make some extra money with a side job. For right now, that would be sharpening knives. I love sharpening knives, I've sharpened hundreds of them, and I can shave with all my pocketknives. If I could make a living wage with that, I definitely would.

Travel more and make some decent money.
And stay far away from Hannibal and his knives.

Maybe I'll continue the sailing theme (Sailing 8 years), get a job sailing yachts from place to place (Mediterranean) for rich people who can't sail but know how to spend big money. My true home is the sea.

Read read read; learn amazing interesting stuff.
Learn Languages. I'd love to have the time + energy to put in an hour or two every day.
Travel. So much of the world to see and dive into...
Go out and romp lots (pickup).

I think you feel your time alot more as you get older. When you're young you think you're going to live for ever, and things will all work out. but time fucking flies, and you only get a limited number of "clear shots" at what you really want, where you have the time, resources and freedom to full-on go for it.

On a related note, there might only be a decade or two left of cheap air travel - by 2030 world oil production is going to be at half capacity, which means air travel will be several times more expensive. If you want to go somewhere, dont put it off... the chance might not be there in future.
