"Do you think I am attractive?" - Sleek - 04-16-2013

I came across this video by Youtube prankster LAHWF where he asked people if they found him attractive.

So I tried it out at a concert and it worked with a great success rate (would probably work at a bar too).

Most of the responses I got were: "yes", "sure", and the rare "no". One girl asked me, "Who would say no to that question?" I told her: "The confident ones who don't care what other people think about them".

In any event, this opener worked for a few of reasons:
  1. I would classify my looks as decent/average. However if a girl answers "sure" because social norms say you shouldn't call someone unattractive (maybe thinking that I was only decent/average), she will want her words to align with her thoughts. Therefore, she will try to rationalize thinking I am attractive because she said it, resulting in her being more attracted to me. One girl told me just this after we made out.
  2. I came in with a strong frame. A cocky smirk typically did the trick. I felt that the girls weren't judging me just based on my looks when I asked them the question, but also my appearance (body language and fashion).
  3. This has been said time and time again, but by simply talking to these attractive girls I was separating myself from every other guy who just stood there and said nothing.
The reason why game experts will never teach this strategy/opener is because not everybody is attractive and negative responses would get some new gamers discouraged. But if you are shy and think may be attractive, it is a great confidence booster.

Also, I need to do further research with this. I got a few numbers and tons of make outs in one venue but that doesn't mean it will always work.

nice. i'm a big fan of andrew hale but i've never really thought of using his social experiments in real life. this is a really good example of one you could use in real life and i think i have the confidence to pull it off. my only concern is that since i'm in high school would it be a bad idea to do so to girls @ my school just b/c i might ruin my reputation? anyways nice work dude. +1 for you!
