I agree. No point in attacking her. It's the voters. I'm guessing there was tremendous pressure to choose a black woman due to the 50 year civil rights anniversary. I just don't know why they choose this particular black woman.

There is a chance that this could be some sort of patronizing ironic choice, like when Gabby Sidibe was on the cover of the magazine. They will promote an ugly ass black woman before a beautiful one.

What was the voting mechanism? Maybe it was some drawn out procedure or had low turnouts, ensuring only fattie defenders voted.

Maybe the hot white girls were thinking, 'well, we have to appoint a black girl at some appoint, and probably a fat one too, so why not get 'em both at once?' Or the hot black girls don't even participate? Even at very liberal school, the cool black people and the cool white people often occupy very different scenes. I can imagine the hot black sororities might have their own league so they don't try for this one.

We'd need to know more about the nomination process, who else was running, etc. It's just incredible to believe that there were simply no attractive black girls running for this thing and that this was the best of the bunch. It's like when TV shows have contests, and the guys from 4Chan or reddit or whatever will semi-troll by voting for someone way out of the mainstream (they did something like this with Oprah and the cerebral palsy guy, although he was legit talented and very likeable).

1. Hot white girls who want to make a mockery of big loud fat black women for playing in their court.
2. Hot black girls who want to make fun of the white girls by making Precious win.
3. SWPL who suspend all standards of beauty to make a black person win.
4. People voted along racial lines.

Honestly, if you're getting bent out of shape on this thinking it's racism you should be mad at Precious, and her defenders. It's the black women who encourage and support them that you should be mad at. And some lame black men, especially the older ones.

You contradict yourself. You say 'its not racism' ...... and then all 4 of the alternative explanations you present explicitly designate race as cause/motivating factor.

If the historically most virulently racist part of America expresses its bigotry by voting for morbidly obese black chicks for college homecoming queen... well, that's progress.
