Just wondering if anyone here has experience with online dating sites.
I'm really busy these days, and it seems like the internet is the most logical choice for a place for me to meet women.
Just to clarify, I've used online dating sites before, and I've got laid from them (not with anything of quality tho).
However, I found that when I was really going hard with the whole online dating thing, my efforts to results ratio was pretty abysmal, which is why I want to clarify a few things before I jump in.
Anyone who can answer a few questions for me has my undying appreciation.
1. Profile. Is it best to be sort of flirty/funny, or just give a straight run down of what you're about?
2. Messages. Should you actually prepare a clever opener, or is just being like "hey what's up" enough? Is it good to comment on a chick's profile?
3. Asking for the date. After how many messages should you go for the date? Is it better to ask over the phone?
Also if anyone wants to make general observations about online dating, that'd be a good use for this thread too.

In online game the conversion ratio is very low-just the nature of the game.
Pics need to be excellent
Profile should be cocky/funny. Serious, earnest, honest profiles signal beta. My profile is outrageous and obviously false and gets an excellent response rate. That should tell you something about female nature right there.
Initial message should be clever. Can either be funny or challenging. No more than two lines, one line is better. Mine is just a stupid joke and works well. you can spam the opener. Commenting on her profile can work if its funny or a light neg.
Send out lots of messages. numbers numbers numbers.
I ask for her number for texting purposes after 4 to 6 exchanges of messages, usually. If she refuses just delete her, she is an attention whore not worth further effort
Restart by texting-after a few text exchanges ask for the meeting
See the OKCupid thread for more details

I think online is a waste of time, the reward to energy invested isn't there.
I tried it again recently - I'd trade every minute spent on it for time looking for girls in real life.
IRL you get better responses and you gain something from every rejection, online you gain nothing from rejections. You'll have more personal confidence from 100 real rejections than 1000 online rejections. Online does nothing to build your character, if you take it even remotely seriously or expect anything from it, it can undermine you.
If you're going to do it, you need to look at online game with the same mindset as a Nigerian email scammer:
Numbers, numbers, numbers. Do NOT feel anything special about anyone you are writing, they're just another number.
Maybe even tell them you are a prince who inherited 1 billion dollars and needs help depositing the money in an american account, good first date idea.
I guarantee the Nigerian prince opener will get more replies than an sincere letter noting what you like about her and the interests you share.
